Actuator Assembly

Actuator Assembly

The actuator unit is the key system component. It connects to the gear linkage, effectively replacing your foot for both up and down shifts. The unit is extremely powerful and robust; there is only one moving part for absolute reliability. This unit has been developed to cope with the most demanding gearboxes including Harley Davidson and Moto Guzzi. On the majority of sports bikes the speed of the gear change is extremely fast - we have had interrupt times as low as 35 milliseconds when using the optional ignition interrupt! Clearly an advantage for competitive use where the cumulative advantage from the hundreds of changes during a race could be decisive.

Improvements over earlier versions include extra power, faster response, lower current drain, waterproofing, improved finish and choice of connections.

Key to the long term trouble-free operation of the system is a consistent and reliable switching system. The current compact unit incorporates many refinements and is very easy to install on your machine.

Mounting Clamp

Mounting Clamp

In order to hold the actuator assembly, we have developed a special aluminium mount. This is a precision-made product which now incorporates a double bearing for smooth trouble-free operation. Since the selector pedal follows a shallow arc over the range of its movement it is important that the actuator can swivel to follow this movement.

Under-Bar Bike Switch

Under Bar Bike Switch

Under-Bar Bike Switch

Over the course of many hundreds of installations we have noticed that the standard switch assembly in certain applications is either difficult to fit, or in the case of riders with limited mobility in the hand, does not offer a very large target. We have therefore added this new design to our range.

The advantages are particularly apparent when you have heated grips - then you are unable to cut the grip and sometimes cannot move the switch cluster. Taking up only a very small space on the bar, this ergonomic design overcomes the problem, scalloped to fit neatly under the thumb. It is not suitable for all machines - on some sports bikes the bars are too close to the tank on full lock - in which case the original design is preferable.

This tried and tested design is now black anodised and resin filled for looks and durability. It sits on the bars so as to conveniently fall under the thumb of the clutch hand.

This design is well suited to sports bikes where the bars fall close to the tank on full lock - the assembly extends just beyond the grips and is unobtrusive. The standard DIN type connector means that it is interchangeable with our other design.

New Car Switch Kit

This has proven very popular with bike engined car and kart customers. The universal steering wheel-mounted buttons give an F1 style feel. Keeping both hands on the wheel when changing gear is a definite advantage in competitive situations. The plug and socket wiring also facilitates the quick easy removal of the steering wheel.
