INSTALLATION PAGE 2 - ANOTHER EXAMPLE OF A TYPICAL FITTING PROCEDURE

(please be patient there are numerous images on this page - so it may take a few minutes to load)

The following is a photographic record of a typical installation - the machine here is a 2003 FASER 1000 which belongs to Fast Bikes Magazine's Carl Alston - his long term test machine.

Our gallery pages also show numerous other machines fitted with the system.

Every installation has to be approached as a completely different exercise, however there are certain guidelines which must be observed if the unit is to operate effectively.

Left: Bob gets to grips with the positioning of the actuator. On this particular machine there are two mounting bolts which offer a suitable location for a bracket to enable a hanging fit directly onto the existing pedal.

Note: that the angle for the connecting rod to lever should be as near to 90 degrees as possible.

Below: Having determined the position of the unit an aluminium plate is machined to pick up the bolts and enable our swivel bracket to be attached in the appropriate position. Any minor adjustments can be made later using shims etc.

The mounting bracket and swivel bracket in place ready to accept the actuator assembly. We have made no permanent modifications to the machine, If replaced the whole assembly can be unbolted and the machine returned to original condition in a matter of minutes. We have some customers who have transferred the system between 4 or 5 machines over the years - ample testimony to how versatile and durable the system is.

Meanwhile, Keith makes good on the electrics, the compact control box is located under the seat cavity. Electrical connections are very straightforward on the Kliktronic system. Just 3 wires - positive and negative directly onto the battery, plus one switched 12 volt positive which feeds power to the switches, in this way when the ignition is off then no-one can activate with the unit.

The new slimline switch assembly tucks neatly onto the bars between the grip and the switch cluster. Especially useful if you have heated grips since it normally requires no relocation of the switch cluster which is often pinned to the bars.

Below: The end result, neat and unobtrusive, the Faser gearbox was a delight - light and very slick. This machine had the optional Techtronics ignition interrupt fitted as well...... the word wheelie comes to mind!
